Random Thought

What is this thing called hip hop? This culture? This manner of expression?

Young Blacks and Latinos in NYC back in the day- did they really know what they were giving birth too?

Hip hop is international. A global voice.

Songs of oppression and depression mixed with fantasies of a lavish and opulent life have resonated all around the world.

Just think about it for a second.

Helms mea culpa on AIDS, not integration - Politics - MSNBC.com

This is why Black folk have stayed away from the Republican Party since the latter half of the 20th century.

Review the following comment from an uncorrected (politically?) proof the Senator Helms' forthcoming memoir:

“We will never know how integration might have been achieved in neighborhoods across our land, because the opportunity was snatched away by outside agitators who had their own agendas to advance...We certainly do know the price paid by the stirring of hatred, the encouragement of violence, the suspicion and distrust.”

That's like the comment I heard from a caller on C-SPAN who said the "War Between the States" was wrong in part because "slavery was on it's way out" anyway.

How do you justify injustice?

How do you promote the idea that injustice will eventually fix itself?

That's like looking a starving child and saying, "well food will come eventually."

What if George Washington met with Benjamin Franklin and said "y'know Ben, this whole monarchy is on it's way out anyway. The agitators for self-government are just outsiders with their own agenda to advance."

Emmett Till's body reburied in Illinois - MSNBC

It's kinda funny that in the article the article call Emmett Till's brutal murder "...a crime that symbolized the raw history of race relations in America..." as opposed to "a crime that symbolized how White Supremacy and the physical and psychological attack on African descendents persisted in the 20th century."

Maybe a little too honest I guess.

Wow.

Funny what comes to light when the heat turns up.

But there is a nugget of hope in this story- facts have come to light because of democracy, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press.

Now, Newsweek did take alot of heat for the story they wrote, but if they hadn't this information might not be coming out now- if ever.

BET Founder Robert Johnson Plans to Retire - Washington Post

Y'know, BET is just a horrible, horrible channel. It really is.

Booties Every Time has irresponsibly furthered stereotypes and ignorance about the Black community and in the Black community.

Anyone who watches BET knows the garbage that is rampant on the channel.

What makes it so bad is that there is no balance. Nothing to feed the minds or uplift the Black community.

It is completely immoral to get rich off of the ignorance and degredation of people- especially your own people.

Blair looks to sell Bush on Africa - Yahoo! News

I really hope that the President isn't as opposed to increasing aid to the African continent as some recent articles portray- especially since African descendents have been so crucial to building the U.S. both physically and economically.

If he is as opposed as articles portray, what the logical rationale? I must admit, it escapes me.

It's been just over a year since it was reported the FAA managers destroyed the tapes that air traffic controllers made on September 11, 2001.

Funny how this story just got kind of swept under the rug.

Doesn't anyone think that the information on those tapes would have been extremely important?

Why hasn't anyone been held accountable?

Saudis Outraged Over Women-Drive Proposal - Yahoo! News

Look, this isn't Islam- at least not the Islam I'm familiar with.

I'm really tired of misrepresentations of this beautiful way of life from all sides.

Killing innocents is not Islam. Not allowing women to make their own decisions is not Islam.

And just because every Muslim from San Franciso to Jakarta doesn't flood the media with condemnation over the actions of "Islamic" lunatics doesn't mean they endorse it- especially when those same lunatics are also killing Muslims.

Lot of countries and cultures have their own way of doing things which are perceived as "Islam." Just because Saudi Arabia doesn't allow women to drive doesn't mean all Muslims believe that- even if Saudi Arabia says it is an Islamic law.

Just as the United States cannot and does not represent the Christian world, one particular nation of group of people do not represent Islam.
