Helms mea culpa on AIDS, not integration - Politics - MSNBC.com

This is why Black folk have stayed away from the Republican Party since the latter half of the 20th century.

Review the following comment from an uncorrected (politically?) proof the Senator Helms' forthcoming memoir:

“We will never know how integration might have been achieved in neighborhoods across our land, because the opportunity was snatched away by outside agitators who had their own agendas to advance...We certainly do know the price paid by the stirring of hatred, the encouragement of violence, the suspicion and distrust.”

That's like the comment I heard from a caller on C-SPAN who said the "War Between the States" was wrong in part because "slavery was on it's way out" anyway.

How do you justify injustice?

How do you promote the idea that injustice will eventually fix itself?

That's like looking a starving child and saying, "well food will come eventually."

What if George Washington met with Benjamin Franklin and said "y'know Ben, this whole monarchy is on it's way out anyway. The agitators for self-government are just outsiders with their own agenda to advance."
