Yasir Arafat 1929-2004

May the peace and blessings of God be upon Yasir Arafat. President Arafat was taken off life-support in Paris last night, ending his complicated life. The earliest memories I have of Arafat is seeing him on television shaking the hand of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin with President Bill Clinton. I hope to God that with President Arafat's passing, the opportunity for peace will not be missed. This moment can have great historical implications; either we can move toward a sovereign Palestinian state living in peace with its neighbors, or we can witness continued violence that will ripple throughout the globe.
